Halloween (Halloween or Hallowe'en) is a celebration of the western world which is celebrated on the night of October 31st. Children dress up as something "scary" and visit houses collecting candy, a game known as "trick or treat. This celebration can be identified with the Carnival, but it is very different in fact as Halloween has a more mystical tinge. It is an evolution of the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, the god of the Underworld. Today the festival is no longer dealing with ghosts and evil spirits, but more fun, festive costumes and cakes. For the Celts the day that marks the end of harvest and the beginning of winter, and also the change of season that was a bridge between the world above and the world of the dead. Over the millennia, the festival originally took Christian color and then turned into a day of joy and disguises with cheerful parades and sweet treats in children and adults.
